Kampong Gelam · Since the first charcoal was lit
Every Turkish restaurant on Arab Street claims the crown. We would rather earn it at your table — real charcoal, family-owned, open later than anyone else in the district. Here is our case.
What “Best” Should Actually Mean
Awards and rankings come and go. What stays is the fire, the ingredients, the people and the hours. This is what LAYALI is built on — and what our guests come back for.
Our grill burns from opening to 1:00am — every kebab, shish and lamb chop is cooked over live fire, never gas. The smoke is the flavour.
Every dish is prepared fresh daily by the family that runs the restaurant. Order anything on the menu with total confidence.
While most of Arab Street closes by 11pm, our full menu runs until 1:00am every single night — the true “nights” that our name promises.
257 Beach Road — the corner where Beach Road meets Arab Street, 3 minutes from the golden dome of Sultan Mosque, with an alfresco terrace overlooking the heritage shophouses.
Turkish hospitality is not a script — it is tea poured again and again, and nobody rushing you out. That is how a family runs a table.
Ground-floor dining, an alfresco terrace, and the Sultan’s Lounge upstairs for private events and banquets of up to 200 guests.
The Proof Is on the Plate
Hand-minced lamb pressed onto wide skewers, kissed by charcoal until the edges caramelise — the dish that built our name.
Adana, shish, lamb chops and chicken wings over rice and grilled vegetables — the table’s centrepiece, built for sharing.
Slow-turned on the vertical spit all day, carved to order with warm bread, pickles and garlic sauce.
Shredded pastry over molten cheese, finished tableside-hot with crushed pistachio — our most photographed dessert.
Layered by hand, baked in daily batches — pistachio, walnut, and the chocolate variation regulars ask for by name.
Brewed slowly in the cezve, served in tulip glasses — the ritual that turns dinner into an evening.

Yes — every dish is prepared fresh daily in our own kitchen, from hand-minced kebabs to bread baked to order. Families and groups can order anything with confidence.
Daily from 10:00am until 1:00am, including weekends and public holidays — with the complete menu served until closing, not a reduced supper list.
